ooh la la

my list of things I am lovin' right now continues.....
little man with his cool beach hat and lookin' like he was caught red handed! So adorable
A monkey that we saw and Lindsay was able to shake his hand this last weekend in Santa Monica. We went down so that Lindsay could help do baptisms with the youth in the LA temple. Erik and I spent the afternoon on the grounds soaking up the nice weather and calm peace of being on the temple grounds.

This is a photo collage we have on our refridgerator. I love it. The rest of our fridge is blank and it is fun to see the cool pics often. The rollerblader in the upper left portion is the adult Erik when he was a teenager.

This is one of the most awesome baby quilts ever! And thanks to my SIL it is Erik's. We based his nursery around this quilt. She surprised me one day, calling to ask what colors I would want a blanket to be that she was going to make. These were the colors I chose...but it is even more stunning than I imagined. Thanks Wendy! The back is corduroy, which I thought was super creative!

This is the baby blanket that I was attached to as a youngster. My mom sent it to me in a package recently and I immediately smelled it. Doesn't smell the same after being in storage, but I still love it. It's threadbare on the back, but you can still stick your fingers in the triangles around the edge.....which I always did. I did it again, just for fun sake. Oooh I love this blanky!

I love getting packages in the mail. This was one from my mom for Easter before we realized we were going home. Lots of fun stuff, just pulling things out of a box and seeing what awaits is worth a simple package!

Erik has been able to sit longer to listen to me read to him, which has been great. He just stares, sometimes at the books, sometimes at the wall but he sits quietly and sometimes talks to the book. In love I tell you...........

My two favorite men. Lindsay doesn't think that Erik likes to lay against his chest, but let me tell you...not 10 minutes after this pic was taken he was fast asleep against his daddy's chest. Erik doesn't like it......whatever!
It has been fun lately as Erik is enjoying being held upright against our chests to be held. There is something about our bodies and hearts being so close that makes me feel so connected to him. He is a great snuggler (which hopefully he doesn't grow out of too soon) and I try to soak up every second.

Now I know he is not happy in this picture but I have to tell you that this face makes me chuckle every time I see it. Seriously......I don't like it when he cries and is upset but Erik is now getting to the point where sometimes he is not sure if he wants to cry or if he should, so he makes a face similar to the one above and waits. Usually I chuckle because I think it's cute and try to make him smile rather than cry. It works most of the time, sometimes he still cries but we can't always win. It is just so darn cute!
Summer is around the corner, and it should be a great one!

Things I'm diggin'

No pictures tonight but some to come! Lately I have been thinking about all the things that I have been enjoying. Here is a short list of all the great things in our life right now!

-Blossoms are bloomin' on the trees in town-reminds me of "popcorn popping on the apricot tree."

-Erik's nursery! It is the only room in our house that I keep constantly clean. I love his room...it's cute and well organized and usually I only have enough time for one room, and his is most important to me.

-It's staying light later and it feels great, if only I could make my energy stay longer with the light...that would be awesome! I feel like such an old woman wanting to crash at 8 at night, but wouldn't change it for the world.

-I love the fact that I get to stay home to take care of Erik during the day. Sometimes I wonder how I got so lucky to be able to stay home with our son and play with him, take him to play group and the library and just be there with him all the time. It's nice to have breaks too but mostly I love that I have that blessing of being home with him.

-I love that we got to go home this weekend to Washington to be a part of my younger brother's wife's baptism. I get to speak on baptism for her and I couldn't be more excited that she is joining the church and also that she is the newest member of our family!

-Lately we have been hearing lawn mowers out in Cali and you know what that means, warm weather is just around the corner! This last week I was in Bakersfield with a friend and it was in the 80's.....can you believe it? I know sweet huh?

-Today I got my wedding ring cleaned, and it's crazy how sparkly it is and it makes me smile to think about Lindsay's proposal and our wedding day! Plus it reminds me of the temple and I can't wait to take Erik to the temple with us so that he can be part of our eternal family. That is the greatest gift I think that S and B gave to the moon babe is the opportunity to be sealed in the temple and be under those sacred covenants. We continue to be impressed with their sacrifice and look to them to see a true Christ like love.

Happy Easter,

Som

Shots, parties, and smiles

Look at that smiley face. Isn't he so adorable? This was last night, yesterday Erik turned 2 months old...I know I can hardly believe it myself. He had to get some shots- yuck! Luckily one immunization was oral so it was given like baby tylenol is given, he took that great. Then he was supposed to get 3 pokes but the computer system wouldn't allow one saying that he was 59 days instead of 60 so we have to go back next week for that. So he got a shot in each leg.
He was a champ. I tried to not let him feel my nervousness for him, I had no idea how he would react. Although I do think this little man will have a high pain tolerance. He has been bumped by Boomer a couple of times and taken them in stride. Yesterday he also heard his first sonic boom while we were on base. Erik was sleeping and I almost peed my pants because it startled me so much so I thought he would wake up startled and scared. This little one could have cared less, he just wanted to sleep. He did cry when he got the shots, actually his faced turned beet red and he screamed, but instead of being the overbearing worried mother, I decided to be a cheerleader (it runs in my blood, sorry) and gave him lots of praise for how well he did, he honestly cried for about 15 seconds and was done. What a champ! Eh got two red camo band aids which we thought were cool.
The rest of the day he was pretty lethargic and just wanted to be held, who could blame him? So we gave in to his every whim, the poor guy's face would contort every time his legs moved to quickly or got bumped. We put him on his activity mat that he loves and he would go from smiling and cooing, kick and then get a sour face, fuss, and do it all over again. It was pretty funny. Then when all got comfy on the couch (BOomer included as seen above ) and watched Wall E. Thye couch was a pretty crowded fit the four of us but I am pretty sure we all thoroughly enjoyed the closeness.

This week our ward threw Erik and myself a baby shower and we totally got spoiled!

This is a sweet car mirror so I can see him from my rear view mirror, bu that is not all. It has lights, music, and drum roll please............a remote control! I can't believe it! That was just one of the amazing gifts that we received.

This me and a couple of sweet gals that were there. I actually served in the primary presidency with both of these ladies up until recently when Amber in the middle got moved into the Relief Society presidency. I still serve with Jenny on the left though and that is her sweet little boy Ryan. He is about 5 or 6 weeks older than Erik and we can't wait until they can play together.
Little mister is getting bigger for sure! Yesterday he weighed in at a whopping 11 lbs. 8 ounces! Which is completely average, but I can't believe he is growing so fast. And he is 23 3/4 inches which is in the 75th percentile, so he is a string bean. But so scrumdittelyumptious!
Mmm good!
